W: Seven Heartland wrestlers headed for semi-state

The Hoosier
Heartland Conference had a solid day during regional competition last Saturday.
The league’s six schools advanced a total of seven wrestlers on to semi-state
bouts this coming weekend. Along the way, the HHC crowned two regional
champions. Taylor Evans of Clinton Central won the title at 152 lbs. at the
North Montgomery Regional while Tri-Central’s Montrail Johnson took the crown
at 145 lbs. at Pendleton Heights.

 

Clinton
Central led the way for HHC teams by qualifying three wrestlers for next week.
In addition to Evans, Jake Evans was third at 160 lbs. and Andy Jacquez took
fourth at 215 lbs. Drew Miller of Rossville gave Hornet fans a reason to be
interested by finishing fourth at 145 lbs. In addition to Johnson, Tri- Central
advanced Hayden Buck who was third at 140 lbs. Finally, Lafayette Central
Catholic advanced one wrestler. Cody Schrader was third at 119 lbs. in the
Logansport Regional.
